Companies choose DEAC virtual servers with greater RAM capacity

European data center operator DEAC Ltd semi-annual data shows, that the most demanded virtual server models are with random access memory (RAM) 256 MB, 1 GB and 2 GB. In recent months the trend is - more and more rapidly growing demands for virtual servers with RAM above 1 GB. As the top IT analysts point out - virtualization solution victory march picks up speed.

Worldwide virtualization has become a standard IT technology and is increasingly used by not only large companies but also small and medium business representatives. "Popularity of virtualization is primarily use because of economic benefits; it helps reduce the number of physical servers, server room area, power consumption and IT infrastructure total costs of ownership (TCO). Different surveys show, that virtualizing 70-90% servers, resource consolidation ratio is from 1:6 up to 1:15," the benefits of virtualization explains DEAC CEO Andris Gailitis.

IT research company "Gartner" predicts that by 2013, virtualized servers share will reach 60%, analysts from "TheInfoPro" is more optimistic and forecast that 80% share will be already in 2012. Software developers also talk about virtualization of other IT infrastructure components. "DEAC bets that the key requirement from the customers’ side still will be resource optimization combined with a high level of security. Therefore, not only the number of virtual servers will increase, but also the required server RAM capacity," says A. Gailitis.

Multiple operating systems in servers run with hypervisor VMware ESXi, which is considered the world’s safest and most effective virtualization solutions provider.
